David's 2nd Birthday!

David turned 2 years old on Tuesday, July 31st! We had ice cream cake with my parents on Sunday afternoon and opened presents from them. David got a puzzle and a little people cars and ramps set as well as an awesome 'I'm 2!' T-shirt that came as a card. Then Tuesday, we gave David our present, a LittleLife turtle back pack (so cool) with an Elmo loofah (a desperate attempt at Dominicks to increase the gift amount from us). Tuesday evening, we got to Skype with Mimi and Grandpa G while David opened presents their much enjoyed gifts; Thomas train tracks & bridge, Thomas train, Percy train & cargo, a very rockin' sleeveless t-shirt and super cool striped shirt as well as a sporty and more dressy short. I think that names them all! I am sure as the years go by we'll find this list helpful.

Happy Birthday to David IV

Today is David's 1st birthday, or as we're saying he's #1! Reminiscing a year ago today, we had no idea what David was going to look like or be like at this time. Tripp and I both remember when David was born thinking, "Who brought that baby in here? Who's baby is that?" It was surreal then and there have been surprises every day since. David's brought more fun and life-changing love than we could have prayed for. We are praising God for His mercy on us in the life of David today.

All this attention on D make me laugh at what life may be like in years to come. Baby #2 and #3 may not get their birthday song posted the same day, or even the same year or that matter!

Gracie D is 1 year old!

Our little niece, Gracie D, turned one year last week! She's the cutest one year old little girl I know and her parents, John and Ashley, gave her one sweet birthday party last weekend. I wanted to share pics from the day taken by my sister in law's brother in law, Shawn. A day celebrating with family is a reminder of all the support we have as new parents. There are three babies in the family now - Grace, Eli, and David - and that means three first-time moms. All the women on the D side are dear to my heart and no matter what stage of life, we're tied to one another as sisters in Christ. Then there's the men who keep us grounded and yet turn to mush over these sweet babies!

We got Grace a set of pjs from old navy and the handmade stuffed owl. Ashley made incredible chocolate candy cane cookies from a pioneer woman recipe. She also had out snowflake sugar cookies, icecream and cherry cupcakes. To make the cherry cupcakes, start with a white cake mix and add the juice from the Maraschino cherry jar... oh dear, I can't really remember the rest. But the icing was regular vanilla just tinted with food coloring and maybe chopped cherry bits.
